[updated]Bits of stuff...

[update] A sharp reader noticed that the previous link stopped working, but a similar list is available.

Here is a site that lists some useless, but different facts.

Use these to fill the awkward gaps in conversations with co-workers.

They will either be impressed with your knowledge, or become scared and leave you alone.

Item #25 The number of possible ways of playing the first four moves per side in a game of chess is 318,979,564,000.

Number Four is apparently erroneous:
(QUOTED MOSTLY FROM ROB)
The raison sinks to the bottom, where bubbles of CO2 come out of solution and form on the exterior surface of the raison. Eventually, the raison becomes sufficiently buoyant to rise to the top of the glass of champagne. However, upon the raison breaking the surface of champagne, a sufficient number of bubbles will burst, the raison will lose some of its buoyancy, and will sink to the bottom of the champagne glass again. The process will be repeated until there is insufficient C02 in the champagne to continue to form bubbles. I.E: the raison will stop going up and down when the champagne goes flat.

(Aren't you glad you know a couple of really annoying science-types? -we might just use this at the next mind-numbingly boring board/whatever meetings.)

You are right, but it probably looks like "bouncing", and who leaves champagne in a glass long enough to go flat?
